Description:   A huge dragon guarding the top of a mountain sounds like the start of a fairytale - but in Vietnam, it's very much a reality.
Only, the dragon isn't exactly a threatening creature; it's made entirely of stone.
The Lying Dragon mountain in Ninh Binh, Vietnam, has been attracting visitors for decades, and not just because it's an impressive undulating stone sculpture.
The dragon actually sits atop of a large mountain, and those who take on the climb will be treated to some pretty spectacular views of the Tam Coc region.
The dragon statue extends over some rocks above the main viewing platform, near an altar to the Goddess of Mercy.
It's no easy feat to reach; tourists need to take on 450 stone steps. The staircase itself is quite impressive with intricate carvings ranging from dragons to phoenixes.
At the foot of the mountain sit the Mua Caves, meaning the 'Caves of Dance', although these don't have very much to explore. The story goes that a former king used the caves to host dance performances.
