Description: |
|
Wat In Peng is one of the many Buddhist temples in Vientiane,
the capital of Laos. Its facade and ceiling are decorated with
drawings and paintings depicting stories and tales of the Buddha
and are decorated with gold. A lion figure also sits outside the
entrance to the temple. Built in the 16th century, the temple
was destroyed in 1827 during the invasion by the Thais who
destroyed most of the city. It was rebuilt and renovated several
times. Today, Wat In Peng is an active temple with resident
monks.
