Baoshan District, is a suburban district of Shanghai. It has an area of 424.58 square kilometers and had a population of 1,905,000 at the time of the 2010 Chinese census. Baoshao District is at the convergence point of the Huangpu River and the Yangtze River. It is the birthplace of Shanghai's port opening, more than a century ago. Although it has a scandalous history and shining skyscrapers, Itis an undeniable industrial hub, one of the world’s largest ports, and forges millions of tons of steel every year.
