  Dalian has a significant history of being used by foreign powers for its ports. Dalian was previously known as both "Dalniy" and "Dairen". However, the city was better known as "Port Arthur". It is Liaoning's second largest city after the provincial capital Shenyang.

Lushun, popularly known as “Port Arthur” is located in the west end of Dalian City near the south edge of the Liaodong Peninsula. The fact that Lushun is surrounded by sea on three sides further enhances the natural beauty of the place.
Because of its rich historical legacy, the entire place has been transformed into an open air museum that bears testimony to the historical and cultural legacy of the region.

Xinghai Square is the largest city square in the world, covering a total area of 1.1 million square meters, which is four times of Tian’anmen Square in Beijing. It used to be a waste landfill in Xinghai Bay, and the reconstruction project started on July 16, 1993.

Tigers Sculpture square     老虎滩海洋公园   GPS: na
Tiger’s sculpture which is designed by the famous Chinese sculptor, Mr. Han Meilin, is the representation of Tiger Beach Ocean Park. The tigers have a length of 35.5 meter and a height of 6.5 meter. It has a width of 6.5 meter. It took a span of two years and nine months’ time by Mr. Han to finish this fine sculpture. All the six tigers are headed towards east and are in different shapes and sizes.

Dalian is a modern port city on the Liaodong Peninsula, at the southern tip of China’s Liaoning Province. It was founded by the Russians in 1898, and Russian Street (Eluosi Fengqing Jie) is lined with Russian-style architecture.

The Dalian Forest Zoo was moved from the downtown center into the top south part of Dalian city on October 15, 1995 with hills at the back and the sea in the front. It covers an area of 7.2 square kilometers More than 150 species and more than 200 animals in numbers are shown here. The zoo formally opened to the public on May 24, 1997.
