 Description:   Built in 1924, and situated by Sichuan Road Bridge, Shanghai Post Office has an unusual structure. On the whole it is of English classic structure, with a four-story main building and an eight-story tower. The tower is of Baroque style while the columns of Corinthian style. One wall is built of machine-made bricks. The whole building looks imposing and grand. In the building is the Shanghai Post Museum, the first of its kind in China, which opened on Jan.1, 2006 and covers an area of 8000 sq. m. On the first floor a model of a horse cart used to carry postal matter in 1909, two car models bought by Shanghai Postal Administration Bureau in 1917 to transport postal matter, and a model of a plane flying when a new airline was put into use on July 8, 1929 are all exhibited. On the 2nd floor, a great many old photos, models (like letter-writing figures and messenger figures in the Han Dynasty) are on display. In the Rare-postal Article Hall visitors can enjoy many rare stamps, which are of great historic worth. Standing in the open-air garden on top of the building, visitors are able to overlook the beautiful view of the Huangpu River and the Suzhou Creek, the Bund, and Lujiazui Financial Area.
